It's like adding a 3rd dimension to storage....Instead of relying upon a 2D plane or single layer of chips on flash drives, Dell is the first to the market with 3D flash cells that increases both the life and capacity without increasing the footprint of the drive.  

Being 2/3 less expensive to produce, this will give much benefit to the customer when planning and deploying performance tiers of storage.  We can thank Samsung for this great technology.

 

These drives are available today in the SC Series arrays (SC8000, SC4020, and SCv2000).
